Lusamine VS Ragyō Kiryūin (Pokémon VS Kill la Kill)

Lusamine, the Aether Foundation’s Ultra Beast obsessed president from Pokémon.

Ragyō Kiryūin, REVOCS Corporation’s CEO who will submit those to become slaves to the Life Fibers from Kill la Kill.

Family is complicated. Sometimes there is love, sometimes conflict. A healthy family of a mother, a father, and their children would overcome any turmoil to be happy together. But if a parent were to alienate themselves from the world, even their own children, then they are selfish monsters. As is the case for these two stylish moms, who’d rather be one with those not of this planet. They may seem to be somewhat caring, but underneath the surface is a nasty personality that’s beyond the stars. With their husbands gone, it was up to their abused children to teach them a lesson in manners. However, what lesson will they teach each other?

Note

The main sources used for Lusamine will include her appearances in the main Pokémon games, as well as the anime and Adventures manga. While Pokémon only allows six Pokémon to be carried and used at a time, this analysis will go over every one she has used in major battles across the series, which do differ slightly throughout different media. As for Ragyō, the Kill la Kill anime and manga will be the primary sources, along with KILL la KILL - IF in terms of powers and supportive feats. While the game’s story is a dream sequence, these would theoretically be something she’d be capable of in the main canon, as they’re based on previous abilities she already has.

Lusamine

Background

"I will be like a mother to all of those poor Pokémon and shower them with love. Even Pokémon from distant worlds, far from the Alola region, are worthy of my love."

The world of Pokémon is filled with various types of creatures. Pokémon live alongside mankind. They work together, battle together, and much more. However, some humans use Pokémon for their own advantage, abusing them to the point of mistrusting humans as a whole. This is where the Aether Foundation came in. This rescue organization founded in the Alola region sought out to save Pokémon from horrible people, keeping them safe in a paradise. This was done out of the love in the heart of the company’s president: Lusamine.

Followed by her chiefs Faba and Wicke, and the rest of her employees, Lusamine was able to reach out to all the Pokémon she loved with open arms. However, the Aether Foundation wasn’t as selfless as it seemed to the rest of the world. Lusamine truly did love Pokémon, which she found beautiful, but her family life is a complicated story.

Lusamine was fascinated by Ultra Beasts, mysterious alien Pokémon from other dimensions. She and her husband Mohn conducted experiments as professors within the Aether Foundation, researching Ultra Beasts and the Ultra Wormholes used to travel to these dimensions. Using the abilities of the Legendary Pokémon Cosmog, Mohn managed to create an Ultra Wormhole, but was sucked into it, vanishing before Lusamine’s eyes.

This affected Lusamine immensely. Previously a loving wife and mother to her children Lillie and Gladion, she was now fixated on finding a way to save her husband. With more research came more and more neglect, and her beauty escalated into a desire to own others she deemed worthy, including her children. A new obsession with Ultra Beasts was formed, and would listen to no one about her misguided decisions. Lusamine’s warm motherly feelings turned into wanting control of her children for her own amusement, like telling them to wear the clothes she desired or forcing them to act how she wanted them to. The two would have enough. Gladion would end up stealing Type: Null, a man-made Pokémon created to combat Ultra Beasts, and running from home, while Lillie would escape with Cosmog after seeing how mistreated it was.

Lusamine’s mental state was at an all time low now that her children ran away from home. She would reencounter both of them, claiming they betrayed her and were ugly, being no longer worthy of her love. Having stolen Cosmog back thanks to the misguided Team Skull, Lusamine’s only wish was to open Ultra Wormholes over all of the Alola region, releasing Ultra Beasts to roam across the land.

This is where things change across Pokémon media. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Lusamine hadn’t gone insane with Ultra Wormholes after her husband’s disappearance, though still was unable to listen to her daughter or son, only wanting control over them. Despite despising them for their betrayal, she genuinely had a decent, if still ruthless and selfish, heart. She decides by herself what the best course of action is to make others happy while not considering how they actually feel, which includes commanding her children. Lusamine’s goal this time was to stop Necrozma from stealing Alola’s light, and even save her children. However, she was defeated by Necrozma and humbled by the experience after being saved, wanting to learn more about her children to become a better mother. Lusamine also had a chance meeting with an amnesiac Mohn in this timeline. Realizing he had forgotten everything, she sees how happy he is with his new life and sadly lets him go, accepting what had happened years ago at long last.

In the anime, Lusamine had no evil intentions despite Mohn’s disappearance and being interested in Ultra Beasts, having been told stories about them by her father. As usual though, she struggled to listen to what Lillie and Gladion wanted, such as evolving her Clefairy into Clefable against Lillie’s wishes. Lusamine still loved her children, even very affectionate of Lillie in particular, but there was this strain in their relationship, from the ignorance of treating Lillie like a baby to the negligence of focusing on her work. Eventually, she would end up sacrificing herself for her children, being kidnapped by a Nihilego that would transform her into a merged form that showed how childish she could really be, and doing battle with her children and their friends. Once she was defeated, Lusamine realized her wrongs. While this incident wasn’t her fault, Lillie’s words struck true while she was fused, now knowing to treat her children with respect as opposed to thinking she knows best. Lusamine would form the Ultra Guardians to return Ultra Beasts back to their worlds, a healthy change from her previous obsession. After a while, she, Lillie, and Gladion would travel the world to find Mohn. They’d find him on a snowy mountain in the Crown Tundra, suffering from amnesia, but this time, Mohn was able to eventually remember and reunite with his family, driving Lusamine to tears.

However, none is a sadder fate than in Sun and Moon, along with the Pokémon Adventures manga sharing certain details. Lusamine had lost all control, still not forgiving Lillie and Gladion for stealing Cosmog and Type: Null. She used an Ultra Wormhole to travel to Nihilego’s homeworld, as they were the only valuable things to her with her husband missing, her children’s rejection of her love, and this obsession with Ultra Beasts. Using her own Nihilego, she willingly allowed herself to fuse with her “belonging”, battling once more as a monster. In defeat, Lusamine was put in critical condition, but before fainting and being brought back to Alola, she realized just how beautiful Lillie was.

The poisons of Nihilego still in her system, Lusamine was weak, but she received help from her daughter. They would travel to the Kanto region to find a way to remove Nihilego’s lasting impact. Never to have seen her husband again and come to terms with his amnesia like in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, haunted by the trauma of merging with Nihilego unlike the anime, and all the while being saved by the children she thought didn’t deserve her kindness. This is Lusamine's ugly fate, but perhaps in the future, she will learn to be a loving mother again and find her beloved husband. Someday, she may be the one worthy of everyone’s love.

Ragyō Kiryūin

Background

“La vie est drôle... Life is indeed amusing.”

Honnōji Academy, located in Honnō City, Japan, is a high school known for its cruel rule over its students and even the city itself. It is a totalitarian society where the strong survive and the weak are purged. At the very top was president of the Student Council: Satsuki Kiryūin, who’s authority and power granted her a great deal of respect, whether through awe or fear. It was Satsuki’s goal to govern the masses by taking over other high schools. People were simply pigs in human clothing to her in a world that would be hers. But you might wonder, just what kind of parent had raised such a child to be so stern with the determination to match? That would be none other than her mother Ragyō Kiryūin.

As the CEO of the REVOCS Corporation, a world famous textile company, and the chair of Honnōji Academy’s board of directors, Ragyō possessed an aura of dominance. If Satsuki was an expert at showing off her authority, then Ragyō was a shining pro, with her company making clothes for people all around the world. Satsuki’s will was her will, and together they would collaborate in the development of Honnōji Academy’s signature Goku Uniforms, outfits made out of powerful threads called Life Fibers. These would enhance the school’s students’ abilities, improving their performances in school clubs, with the end goal of conquering every school in Japan, and eventually be in command of the world. Ragyō had entrusted her daughter with a lot.

Satsuki was dominant with her ambitions, until the day a young girl named Ryūko Matoi entered the scene in search of her father’s, Isshin Matoi, murderer and stirred up a shock to the Kiryūin clan with a Kamui called Senketsu bestowed upon her, with Kamui being outfits made out of 100% Life Fibers. The two would clash many times as Ragyō silently watched her daughter, who possessed a Kamui of her own now named Junketsu, continuing their efforts of world domination. All was going according to plan, until during Satsuki’s First Naturals Election for the Student Council when Isshin’s killer Nui Harime showed up to cut the election short, setting Ryūko’s sights on her, but the multi-side conflict that was being created never stopped Satsuki.

Ragyō would go on to explain the truth about Life Fibers after her daughter’s successful takeover of all of Japan’s schools. Life Fibers are, in fact, alien parasites that latch onto people, coming from space from the crash landing of a large bundle of thread called the Primordial Life Fiber. They reproduce by eating the electrical current of their host’s nervous system, and this new desire for humanity to cover themselves in clothing was brought on by Life Fibers, as breeding is more effective when worn than being inside the host’s body. To Ragyō, clothing was the world, but a sin she would sell through REVOCS, which sells clothes woven with Life Fibers to 100% of the world’s countries. It was what binded the world together, and mankind should serve clothing as a result of Life Fibers aiding their evolution.

After their initial effect on humanity’s evolution, Life Fibers went into dormancy, though were reawakened eventually by, who else, Ragyō Kiryūin as part of the Kiryūin clan’s duty to protect the Primordial Life Fiber until humanity was evolved enough for their takeover. Due to her support in helping the Life Fibers with their instinct of devouring humanity, Ragyō had her body infused with Life Fibers. She and her husband, Sōichirō Kiryūin, would have Satsuki, with Ragyō having the intent of fusing her own child with Life Fibers as well. The process failed with Satsuki due to her being too old, as well as their second child, who was just born and was thrown away like useless trash.

Eventually, Ragyō’s plan to conquer the world with Satsuki would come to fruition, having the weak pigs in human clothing eaten by their own clothes… Until the sudden twist of Satsuki’s betrayal, stabbing and crucifying Ragyō as she learned she had been fooled by her daughter. Satsuki’s true goal was to build up an army of powerful soldiers to overthrow Ragyō. She had used her position as Student Council president to weed out the weak and keep only the strong for this mission amidst her ambition, which would end up including Ryūko as well. All for the sake of protecting the world from the Life Fibers and proving that people do not live for clothing, as well as in honor of her late baby sister.

It was at this instant that Ragyō would get her own hands dirty, showcasing the strength of someone imbued with the power of the Life Fibers. She defeated Satsuki and Ryūko and figured out a wonderful truth for herself. Ryūko had been her second child that she presumed was long dead, as well as Satsuki’s sister. What Ragyō didn’t know was that the experiment was a success, with her husband rebelling against her to save their second daughter and stop the Life Fibers. Sōichirō Kiryūin had disguised himself as Isshin Matoi, and used his science for good by creating Senketsu and the Rending Scissors for Ryūko. This came at a cost when Nui, under Ragyō’s orders, came to murder him. This was the truth behind his murder.

This was a joyous day for Ragyō, as Ryūko being infused with Life Fibers meant she could finally have a daughter that was the same as her. With the defeat of the heroes, Ragyō took over Japan and fought off the resistance towards her. She would have her own Kamui called Shinra-Kōketsu be crafted and complete the Cocoon Sphere Genesis to cover the whole planet with the Life Fibers every person in the world wore from her REVOCS sales. Even after failing to have Ryūko manipulated to serve her, Ragyō was a dangerous threat, and Shinra-Kōketsu granted her the power to fight off anyone who dared to withstand her might.

Ragyō’s plan to reproduce the Life Fibers almost came to be, if not for her daughters’ constant meddling in her plans. Satsuki and Ryūko would make sure to destroy the Primordial Life Fiber and reverse the effects of Ragyō’s control over the people’s clothes that made them Life Fibers. Defeated in battle and choosing death for herself over returning home, Ragyō reminded the daughter who defeated her at her strongest, Ryūko, of the eventual fate of Earth: the Life Fibers will return and humanity will become slaves to the clothing that made them who they are. Even in hearing Ryūko’s retort that people will still be people, Ragyō simply stuck with her motherly smile as she crushed her own heart, ending her life. Ragyō Kiryūin was dazzling in a haunting way even on her way to her eternal beauty rest.

Verdict

Stats

For Ragyō’s best in base form for attack potency and durability, she managed to survive the explosion of Ragyō Stadium, which at its highest end would equal just over 1 petaton of TNT, or Continent Level. This was a last ditch effort on Satsuki’s end, yet Satsuki, Ryūko, Ragyō, and others managed to take this blast. While donning Shinra-Kōketsu, she was capable of overpowering Ryūko in her Senketsu Kisaragi form, who blew a hole through the Cocoon Sphere Genesis, which is made out of Life Fibers. Doing this would yield about 51 exatons of TNT, or Moon Level, for attack potency and durability in their strongest states.

Meanwhile, Lusamine is a bit of a weirder case. As a Trainer, she normally doesn’t do the fighting herself, so she as an individual has a poor power output, but her durability wouldn’t be an issue, having taken attacks from Pokémon who do have potent feats. Her own Pokémon, of course, would scale to various feats, such as Ash’s Pikachu blowing up Triangle Rock, which would require an output of 3.8 Megatons of TNT, or Small City Level, for attack potency and durability at the very least.

However, Ultra Beasts like Nihilego are on a whole other level, being able to battle Dawn Wings Necrozma in the Pokémon Adventures manga. Necrozma is a Pokémon capable of both absorbing all light throughout Ultra Space while weakened. Ultra Space is at least 4000+ light-years in length, but is likely longer since absorbing all the light means there are stars further beyond what the game and manga show. It was also described when Necrozma released light throughout Ultra Space that it reached the other side of it into the Alola region. Assuming it is a universe would equal a bit over 1 YottaFoe, or Galaxy Level. Even if it wasn’t the size of a full universe, it would still more than likely be higher than Ragyō’s best attacking stats. This level of power wouldn’t just apply to Nihilego, but also to Lusamine when merged and her other Pokémon due to how they also become empowered by its Beast Boost.

As for speed, it should be noted that for Lusamine, her speed isn’t low just because she isn’t fighting. Just like her durability, it’s surprisingly high when not merged. Lusamine was able to travel to Ultra Megalopolis through an Ultra Wormhole all by herself. While we don’t see her travel, and there isn’t an exact timeframe between this and when she returned, the context of why she went should prove it couldn’t have been that long. Necrozma threatened to absorb all of Alola’s light, so Lusamine went to stop it. It’s not like a couple of days or weeks wouldn’t make that not still faster than light. Usually Ultra Space is traveled through on Solgaleo or Lunala, but we don’t know for sure if she used one of them, so for all we know, she went that distance herself. This wouldn’t make sense in the context of how it’s normally done through Ultra Warp Rides, but sticking to reaction times of the player character steering Solgaleo or Lunala thousands of light-years through Ultra Space in a short amount of time would still be over 1 billion times faster than light.

So when it’s all said and done, humans like Lusamine and the player can react at speeds massively faster than light, and this would of course scale to her Pokémon. You know, the ones actually battling. When merged with Nihilego, this speed goes even further. Keeping up with Dawn Wings Necrozma for a bit means she is competing with a Pokémon who spread light across all of Ultra Space, equaling almost 3.4 trillion times faster than light. Necrozma also uses its light in battle for various strong attacks, so this is applicable in a combat setting. And a final reminder that this was not Ultra Necrozma performing the illuminating and absorbing light feats, as stated by Captain Phyco of the Ultra Recon Squad [Sun & Moon Chapter 35]. His people were closest to Necrozma, so they would know their history.

Now Ragyō is much, much slower than even base Lusamine. Her highest showing of speed when it’s not dodging missiles or flying into space is scaling to Ryūko’s tennis ball slicing, which reaches the sub-relativistic speeds of 1% the speed of light. So overall, Lusamine and her Pokémon, besides Nihilego, are weaker than Ragyō in base. With Nihilego itself or when merged with it however, she takes over the stat trinity, and these stats apply to each and every one of her Pokémon too thanks to Beast Boost.

Equipment & Abilities

Firstly, let’s go over each of their resistances before delving deep into what they have and how it would interact with each other. Lusamine’s Pokémon have their own elemental resistances, along with Nihilego, who Lusamine would most likely share its resistances with when merged together. This would notably allow her to take less damage from Ragyō’s casual blasts of air and energy projection attacks. Whether Ragyō’s energy attacks would classify as Normal or Fire-type attacks when hitting Lusamine doesn’t matter since she resists both. That’s also if Ragyō would be able to overpower Nihilego’s energy absorption, negating many of her ranged options.

That said, Ragyō’s resistance to mind manipulation, among other mental resistances, means Nihilego wouldn’t be able to make her its host. While Lusamine has never forced this upon someone else, Nihilego acts on a self-preservation instinct, so in the off chance it did attempt this on Ragyō, she would be fine. These resistances would also most likely aid her if Lusamine’s Lilligant or Lopunny were to use their confusion inducing moves, or even Absol’s Mean Look that would normally freeze her in fear. That said, Lusamine definitely has the edge in what she and her Pokémon resist compared to Ragyō, who is resisting something Lusamine’s Nihilego has never done for her before or just very specific moves from her other Pokémon.

As for their non-resistances, let’s start with Ragyō’s Mind Stitching. When it comes to this, there are a few arguments that can be made regarding how this affects Lusamine and her Pokémon. The least credible involves her Lilligant, whose Own Tempo Ability negates confusion in the main series. Would confusion be considered some sort of mind manipulation? Many Psychic-type Pokémon known for having mental powers learn moves that can cause it, so it isn’t completely out of nowhere. This would allow Lilligant to keep on fighting or aid Lusamine while she or other Pokémon are being manipulated. This is a similar amount of leniency given for Ragyō resisting confusion. Of course, with so many Pokémon at her disposal, one could argue that the Mind Stitching Life Fibers could be destroyed before they even affect Lusamine and her team. There is one last argument you could make on how Lusamine could handle it.

Nihilego seemingly lacks a brain, as it is based on a jellyfish, and acts on the aforementioned self-preservation instinct, so the likelihood of Mind Stitching working on it is questionable due to how the ability functions by taking control of the victim’s brain and nervous system. Though this whole scenario would be if Ragyō was under the impression that it was a creature and not just something Lusamine wore. If Lusamine used Nihilego in battle, this would be easy to figure out, but if she just put Nihilego on to merge with it like she’s done before, Ragyō would most likely think it’s some sort of Kamui and not attempt to control it, only to be surprised that Nihilego’s influence would counteract Ragyō’s Mind Stitching for Lusamine’s Pokémon. Remember, Nihilego takes control of her team, so they would be able to fend off Ragyō even if she got a hold of Lusamine and perhaps even free their Trainer. And if Ragyō were to mistake Nihilego being worn as a Kamui, she would also be in for a surprise that her Absolute Submission wouldn’t be effective. Lastly on this topic, forcing Lusamine to exit her merged state is also not an option, since Nihilego has stopped her from trying to unmerge before [13:35 - SM054].

When it comes to stamina and healing options, Ragyō knocks it out of the park. Life Fibers are able to regenerate any wound that isn’t fast enough or coming from both sides. Combine this with being capable of fighting for long periods of time and she outshines Lusamine and her Pokémon. They are capable of healing and being revived from fainting, but there’s been no showing of repairing severe damage to their bodies, with the slight exception being Milotic’s Recover regenerating cells. Even then, it wouldn’t be superior to Ragyō’s Life Fibers, so she would have an easier time in a longer battle.

Knowing that, Lusamine still has ways to overcome Ragyō’s Life Fibers in the form of various Fire and Poison-type attacks coming from Mismagius, Lopunny, Salazzle, and most importantly Nihilego. Life Fibers are able to be burnt up like any other cloth, and while it’s not a huge weakness like cutting the fibers from both sides, it is a viable option to disintegrate Ragyō all at once. Ragyō could perhaps counter these options by turning Life Fibers into liquid to take the brunt of all the fire and poison, but this isn’t guaranteed since those are also Life Fibers and the massive flood she caused was from converting the Primordial Life Fiber into liquid using Absolute Submission, something that she’s already absorbed at this point, meaning one of that scale would be hard to create without loads of Life Fibers being available. She would have a ton of COVERS for this, but that also means sacrificing lots of her army for it. Freezing Life Fibers is also effective, which Lusamine also has at her disposal with her Absol’s Ice Beam.

For attacking options, Lusamine has more available due to the wide variety of Pokémon by her side. She has various elements along with all the abilities granted to her from fusing with Nihilego, like invisibility, teleportation, and illusions that would be able to outmaneuver and outsmart Ragyō. Illusions in particular could play into Ragyō’s overconfidence by making her think something has worked in her favor when it actually hasn’t. Meanwhile, with Nihilego’s energy absorption, the only projectile attacks Ragyō could use would come from Life Fibers. These are still useful, as they could ensnare some of Lusamine’s Pokémon coming after her.

And even if they aren’t as varied as the Pokémon, Ragyō does have thousands of COVERS by her side to help defend against attacks and possibly capture Lusamine or her team. Though, it is likely that the strength and abilities of Lusamine’s merged state would prevent this from occurring, but with Mind Stitching also being a possibility simultaneously, Lusamine still has a lot to focus on in battle. It’s not impossible for her to avoid all this with the many eyes she possesses at the end of each tentacle when merged, along with her Pokémon, but it’s something that could be seemingly overwhelming. Also, Ragyō’s Life Fiber swords, which are ultra-hardened Life Fibers, may be interpreted as Steel-type attacks, which are super effective on Nihilego and their merged state. Life Fibers are also stated to be harder than steel, so this does have merit.

All in all, despite Ragyō’s impressive list of equipment and abilities, a lot of it can be played around, leaving her with her Life Fiber swords, shapeshifting, and Life Fiber threads and projectiles, while the only things that could counter Lusamine are Mind Stitching, which only affects her while her Pokémon continue to fight under Nihilego’s will, or COVERS capturing some of her Pokémon. Perhaps Ragyō could use her astral projection to form something Lusamine would mistake as an enemy, but illusions messing with Ragyō and COVERS are superior to even that.

Training & Experience

This is a pretty simple category to discuss for these two. While it isn’t exactly known how long they battled and trained, we do know that Ragyō’s family clan served the Primordial Life Fiber, so we can assume she was infused with Life Fibers since birth like Ryūko. Being that young and having the innate connection to Life Fibers means that Ragyō has upheld her family’s servitude for a few decades. She’s also beaten trained soldiers, so she has the edge on Lusamine when it comes to battle experience, especially when fighting with her abilities on her own. Lusamine only did so when merged with Nihilego, and while she’s been a Trainer for quite some time, long enough to where she became the president of the Aether Foundation, it just isn’t known or could be interpreted that she’s fought and trained as long as Ragyō. Ragyō’s hand-to-hand and sword fighting from her many battles shows just how far her skill has come compared to Lusamine’s experience.

Conclusion

Lusamine has the edge in a lot of ways in this fight. Not only does she possess the stat trinity when merged with Nihilego, but even without it, she can get around Ragyō’s tools with her speed alone. Lusamine’s massively faster than light reaction speed would allow her to realize her Pokémon aren’t scratching Ragyō even in her base form while avoiding anything lethal. She would be able to figure out that she needs to use her ace in the hole right away: battling or fusing with Nihilego. Merging is something she has done at the beginning of battles before when Nihilego was available to her, so if Lusamine wouldn’t do it right away here, she’s fast enough to realize the situation and pull off the fusion anyway. This, of course, leads to her Galaxy Level dominance over Ragyō’s Moon Level attack potency with Shinra-Kōketsu while increasing her speed even further to match Necrozma’s light releasing throughout Ultra Space.

The speed difference also brings yet another answer to Ragyō’s Mind Stitching pre-merging by avoiding the Life Fibers altogether, as it’s a power of hers that relies on Life Fibers making contact with the victim. Ragyō has ways to wrap Lusamine up with Life Fibers to make sure Mind Stitching works, like hiding Life Fibers in the ground to surprise Lusamine, but her Pokémon won’t just let their Trainer be controlled. Ragyō has to focus on all of them, and while they in return have to focus on COVERS, the speed advantage she and all of Pokémon possess aids them even here.

Even without all of Lusamine’s extra abilities that would most definitely be useful, like teleportation, illusions, and more, this battle really does boil down to Lusamine’s much more impressive strength, speed, and durability when merged and being capable of handling Ragyō’s most deadly powers even without fusing right away under most circumstances. Ragyō can’t take advantage of any of Lusamine’s weaknesses besides dealing Steel-type super effective damage with her Life Fiber swords against merged Lusamine, as they’re both just as overconfident of their own capabilities. Forcing Lusamine to unmerge with Mind Stitching would also be impossible due to Nihilego preventing her from escaping its control of her own volition in the past. Experience and regeneration can only do so much for Ragyō when her opponent is just so much more dominant, with options to destroy her Life Fibers for good. From vaporizing her with Fire or Poison-type attacks to simply damaging her quicker than her Life Fibers can regenerate thanks to her speed advantage, Lusamine will no doubt overshadow Ragyō’s ego using the Pokémon she loves with every fiber of her being.

Summary

Lusamine

"I don't care if you are my child or not! I don't care if you were loyal to me or not! I don't care if you're the rarest Pokémon there is in the world or not! If you're not beautiful enough to be worthy of my love, then I don't NEED you!"

Advantages

  • Stronger when fused with Nihilego

  • Faster

  • More durable when fused with Nihilego

  • Has more varied abilities with all of her Pokémon by her side

  • Better maneuverability

  • Illusions can be used to outsmart Ragyō or even make her think she’s winning, leading to overconfidence

  • Can handle Mind Stitching for the most part thanks to Nihilego’s control over her Pokémon, including preventing her from unmerging with it

  • Resists Ragyō’s energy and air attacks, even being able to absorb the former

  • Is strong and fast enough to overpower Ragyō’s Life Fiber regeneration and can burn it away with Fire or Poison-type attacks or freeze it with Ice-type attacks

  • Actually started to have a healthy relationship with her kids upon her defeat

Disadvantages

  • Is less experienced and relies on her Pokémon to fight when not merged with Nihilego

  • Has worse stamina and healing capabilities

  • Confusion, fear inducement, and Nihilego’s influence aren’t options against Ragyō’s mental resistances

  • Mind Stitching still affects her

  • Some Pokémon like Lilligant or Bewear could be weak to Ragyō’s energy and air attacks

  • Life Fiber swords would likely be super effective Steel-type attacks

  • Outnumbered by Ragyō’s COVERS

Ragyō Kiryūin

“Humans are such fragile things, aren't they? And when they're naked like this, it makes them so uncomfortable. They're overcome with the urge to cover themselves with the miracle of clothing. That is instinct, my dear. But if a species should defy its instinct... it will eventually meet with extinction.”

Advantages

  • More experienced overall and is better at battling by herself

  • Superior stamina and regeneration than Lusamine and her Pokémon’s healing options

  • Mental resistances prevent confusion, fear inducement, and Nihilego’s control

  • Some of Lusamine’s Pokémon could be weak to energy or wind attacks

  • Life Fiber swords could be considered Steel-type attacks that are super effective against Lusamine’s merged state

  • More manageable hair

  • Has a numbers advantage with COVERS…

Disadvantages

  • …But Lusamine’s Pokémon are more versatile and useful overall

  • Weaker

  • Slower

  • Less durable

  • Worse maneuverability

  • More prone to being outsmarted and becoming overconfident due to illusions

  • Can’t guarantee that Mind Stitching will affect all of Lusamine’s Pokémon

  • Incapable of forcing Lusamine to unmerge with Mind Stitching due to Nihilego’s influence

  • Energy attacks can be absorbed while gusts of wind are resisted

  • Regeneration can be overpowered, especially with the help of the Fire, Poison, and Ice-type attacks Lusamine has
