Celliera (Dragalia Lost) – DEATH BATTLE! Analysis

Background

The hot-blooded master of the blade Celliera isn’t one to back down from a challenge. Being a knight’s armsmaster, it’s her job to train highborn children to make them strong and skilled. However, her methods aren’t always the safest. Even if her intentions are good, this won’t stop her from bringing her students to fight off fiends or making them go through intense environments.

One day, while at Mount Archeole with her students at a training camp, Celliera encountered a fearsome fiend, which caused her students to flee in terror. A little after, she would end up meeting the seventh scion of Alberia Euden and his friends. Seeing them fight off a group of fiends, she was ecstatic when Euden suggested they team up to defeat that fiend, mostly because she saw the potential of the group and wanted to train them. So she did, but as they all went further into the volcano, they encountered a mirage of the fiend that Celliera encountered before: Phraeganoth. They also saved Pele, a dragon who once served King Archeole, who both trapped Phraeganoth in the space between worlds at the cost of being trapped their themselves. After finding out that Phraeganoth was going to be unsealed soon and that King Archeole was turned into a fiend, Celliera, Euden, and the rest of their friends sought to defeat both of them.

Despite the low chances of them winning, they managed to succeed in keeping Phraeganoth sealed and putting King Archeole out of his misery. Even with this victory, Celliera worried that her students hated her. She even went as far as to blame herself for them running from Phraeganoth’s mirage due to her telling how the kingdom of Alba suddenly vanished, which was caused by Phraeganoth and where Mount Archeole currently is, and that you could hear the ghosts of the dead at the mountain, even though before she blamed them for fleeing in the first place. Euden taught her though that her students did indeed care for her, and this would end up being true after she exited the mountain and met back up with them. Ever since, Celliera has joined Euden and his friends, aiding them in their fight against the Imperial Army, and also going on beach vacations to find treasure.

Equipment

Maar Oasis
The strongest water-attuned blade Celliera can equip, and one that is said to never rust or chip. It increases her HP by 143 and strength by 544. With it, she can perform various swift slashes or a dashing slash straight from the sheath that hits all around her. If she times when she sheathes her blade before she dashes, she can go even further and perform a more powerful slash. This particular blade also allows Celliera to use the Maar’s Recovery skill, where she restores 90% of her maximum HP.

Eoantide
The strongest water-attuned sword Celliera can equip. It increases her HP by 143 and strength by 566. With it, she can perform various slashes or uppercuts, as well as a slice downward when she falls from the air or a dashing slash that hits all around her. This particular sword also allows Celliera to use the Eoantide Cleaver skill, where she delivers three watery slashes before performing a rising uppercut and slamming back down to the ground in an explosion of water.

Paladyn Defender
An equippable item called a Wyrmprint that boosts Celliera’s stats and has other effects. It depicts her ally Elisanne protecting another ally named Cibella from enemy attack. It increases her HP by 122 and strength by 33. It also reduces the chance of Celliera getting burned by 25%, preps 20% of all her skills at the start of quests, and increases the damage dealt to Phraeganoth by 25%.

Otherworld Fragment
A fragment obtained from powerful fiends, with some saying it’s even their soul. One of these alone holds a potent amount of mana, which can be used to create tears that lead to the space between worlds, which can be used to seal enemies. Celliera can enter these herself in order to fight an extremely powerful enemy without letting them destroy the environment of her world. However, those who are trapped in their are returned to their world after a certain amount of time. This consumes the fragment, but Celliera possesses multiple of them, allowing her and whoever she’s trapping to go back at any time.

Powers & Abilities

Water-Attunement
Celliera is attuned with the element of water. This makes all of her attacks water-based, even if she isn’t actually creating water. This allows her to deal extra damage to flame-attuned enemies and resist flame attacks. However, this also makes her attacks against wind-attuned enemies resisted, and she herself is weak to wind attacks.

Force Strike
A technique that Celliera can perform after briefly charging up a bit and aiming. How she uses it depends on if she’s using a blade or a sword. With a blade, she rushes forward and cuts enemies as she passes them and that are in front of her with a single slash, while with a sword, she delivers a powerful and wide-ranged strike forward. No matter what weapon Celliera uses though, this technique can pierce guards and forcefields.

Ardent Stream
A skill that Celliera can perform with a blade. She unsheathes her blade and delivers a flurry of watery slashes before sheathing it to cause an explosion of water that erupts underneath her enemy. This explosion tracks them, meaning it will erupt beneath them no matter the distance that Celliera is from them.

Winter’s Blade
A skill that Celliera can perform with a blade. This grants her a buff, increasing her strength by 25% and upgrading Ardent Stream to make it attack with ice instead of water, which freezes enemies.

Ocean Fury
A skill that Celliera can perform with a sword. She spins around and creates water all around herself before launching out a wave of water alongside watery fish forward. This inflicts enemies with bog, which decreases their movement speed by 50% and increases the amount of damage they take by 50%.

Pep Talk
A skill that Celliera can perform with a sword. She erupts a giant stone beneath her that raises her into the air and creates multiple splashes that damage enemies. This also increases her and her team’s defense by 10% for 10 seconds and activates Skill Shift. Skill Shift boosts the effects of the defense increase each time Celliera uses this skill. Using it a second time puts it in Phase II, which gives an additional 10% boost in defense, and using it a third puts it in Phase III, which gives another 20% boost in defense. This means that when at Phase III, this skill will increase Celliera and her team’s defense by 40% in total.

Passive Abilities
Passive abilities are special perks that benefit Celliera. Some are always active while others activate automatically after certain circumstances. The following is a list of all the passive abilities Celliera has:

  • Thaumian’s Bane +25%: Increases the amount of damage dealt to thaumians, which are magically-made beings or constructs, by 25%.
  • Burn Res +100%: Reduces the chances of Celliera getting burned by 100%.
  • HP 70% = Strength +8%: Increases Celliera’s strength by 8% when her HP is 70% or higher of her maximum.
  • Strength +10%: Increases Celliera and her team’s strength by 10%.
  • Strength Doublebuff +13%: Increases Celliera’s strength by 13% for 15 seconds each time she receives a defense buff.
  • Buff Time +30%: Increases the duration of Celliera’s buffs by 30%.
  • Dragon Haste +15%: Increases the amount of draconic energy gotten for Celliera and her team in order for them to shapeshift.

Weaknesses

Celliera may be a strong instructor, but she deals less damage to enemies attuned with wind, and she herself is weak to wind attacks. Also, otherworld fragments are incapable of sealing things in the space between worlds forever and have a limit. Other than that, most of her weaknesses stem from her personality. She can be too hot-blooded for her own good. Also, Celliera may not look it, but she can sometimes panic during certain situationcs and blame herself harshly if she notices a problem that was her fault. Lastly, she can worry that others hate her because of how she teaches them, which results in her having trust issues. Though, her time with Euden taught her that others do care for her, so it seems that problem has been fixed.
